The “Walking Pad” craze has officially taken over the UK. If you work from home, you have likely considered sliding one under your desk to hit that 10,000-step goal without leaving the house.

But there is a problem with the standard flat pads (like the popular CitySports or WalkingPad C2): Inefficiency. Walking at a typing-friendly speed of 1.5mph barely burns any calories. To actually see results, you have to walk for hours, which kills productivity.

Enter the Urevo Spacewalk 3S.

It looks like a standard under-desk treadmill, but it hides a killer feature: a 9% Auto-Incline. This promises to double your calorie burn without forcing you to walk faster. I spent the last two weeks testing the Urevo 3S against a standard flat pad to see if the “Hill Climb” is a genuine fitness hack or just another expensive gimmick.

Most reviews ignore the physics. The reason to buy the Urevo 3S isn’t the motor; it’s the angle.

I performed a controlled test: 30 minutes of walking at 3mph on a standard flat pad (CitySports) vs 30 minutes on the Urevo 3S at 9% incline.

It turns a passive stroll into an incline workout with proven benefits, without forcing you to walk faster

To Fold or Not to Fold?

  • The WalkingPad P1 folds in half. It is brilliant for storage, but you can feel the “seam” under your feet with every step.
  • The Urevo 3S is a solid slab. It does not fold.

Because the Urevo is one solid piece, it feels like a gym treadmill. There is no flex, no creaking, and no “bump” in the middle of the belt. If you have the space to slide it under a sofa, the solid deck is superior for longevity.

The biggest fear with under-desk treadmills is noise. Can your colleagues hear it?

I tested the Urevo 3S during a live Teams call using a Blue Yeti microphone.

ActivityNoise Level (dB)Audible on Zoom?
Idle (On)0 dBNo
1.5 mph (Walking)42 dBNo (Silent)
3.0 mph (Jogging)55 dBFaint Hum (Suppressed by Software)
Incline Motor (Moving)58 dBYes (Brief Whir)

Result: At walking speeds (1.5 – 2.0 mph), the Urevo 3S is effectively silent to the other end of the call.

This is the only area where the Urevo loses points. Because it includes the incline motor, the deck is thicker than a standard flat pad.

I measured the clearance height required to store this flat.

Warning: Before you buy, get a tape measure. You need at least 17cm clearance under your sofa or bed to slide the Urevo 3S underneath. If you have low-profile furniture, it won’t fit.

Value4.7/5More expensive than a flat pad, but replaces a gym membership.

A breakdown and rating of the testing period.

The Urevo Spacewalk 3S is the current king of the WFH setup. By sacrificing the ability to fold, you gain a sturdier deck, a quieter motor, and the killer feature: 9% Incline.

If you are just trying to hit 10,000 steps, a cheap flat pad is fine. But if you want to stay active at work and actually lose weight while answering calls, the Urevo 3S is an outstanding pick.

Is the walking pad noisy when in use?

The motor itself is generally described as quiet, making it suitable for use in a home office or shared space without being disruptive. However, I found that the machine makes a loud beeping sound whenever you change settings (like speed or incline), and I was not able to find a mute function.

Can I track my workouts with an app?

Yes, the Spacewalk 3S connects to the UREVO app via Bluetooth. Through the app, you can view real-time workout data such as speed, time, distance, and calories burned. The app also provides access to various preset training programs. It’s worth noting that for long-term tracking, you need to manually sync your data to the app after each session.

How easy is it to move and store the treadmill?

The unit is designed for portability and compact storage. It has a low profile of about 6.5 inches, allowing it to slide under most beds or sofas. Built-in front wheels make it relatively easy to maneuver around a room. The manufacturer does recommends storing the treadmill flat on the floor rather than upright.
