Then, the Majority Snowdon. I plugged it in via HDMI ARC (just like the Bose) and switched it to “Dialogue” mode… and it also 100% solved the problem. The improvement over the TV’s built-in speakers was night-and-day. Voices were loud and clear for the first time.
Is the Bose slightly crisper at the very high end? Yes, its audio processing is world-class. But for the core task of making Coronation Street or The Witcher understandable, both bars do the job perfectly.

Round 2: The “Bass Battle”
This is where the review gets turned on its head. I assumed the Bose would sound better for music. I was completely wrong.
The Bose TV Speaker is a 2.0 channel bar with no subwoofer. Now, to be fair it does have a “Bass” button on the remote. But testing proved this button just boosts the low-end frequencies from its two existing drivers, adding a bit of “warmth” but no actual rumble or impact. When I watched Dune or streamed music via Bluetooth, the sound was thin. There was no rumble, no impact, no “oomph” at all. It’s all treble and mids. For music, it’s lifeless.
The Majority Snowdon 120W is a 2.1 channel bar with a built-in subwoofer. The difference is staggering. It’s not going to shake your walls, but you get actual bass. Explosions have a satisfying thump. Music sounds full and rich.
It’s not a competition. The Bose is a worse experience for music and movies, despite costing almost four times as much.

Round 3: The “One Remote” Test
The Bose TV Speaker has HDMI ARC. This is a killer feature. It means you plug one HDMI cable into your TV, and your normal TV remote automatically controls the soundbar’s volume. It’s seamless integration.
